Cedonia from The Caterer and Miss Jones

A coven of witches is after the succubus who’s after Paul Devlin. One of them is Cedonia, an Augury witch who mingles at the French Ambassador’s wife’s Halloween party.

Cedonia wore a stylish 1920s vintage cocktail dress version of Cleopatra’s costume. The top had gold and black stripes and sheer gold sleeves. Her navel was uncovered, and the black and gold stripes stopped just above her mound. Shear full-length wide pantyhose covered her legs and a veil dropped from her waist to the floor. She was athletic, but all the curves she had were flattered by her costume. Her eyes were decorated with Egyptian curls and powdered blue eyeshadow.

“Madame De Villiers told me you organized this party, Mr. Devlin?” she said, oozing sensuality.

Paul swallowed. “My mother would be delighted if you could cater Egypt’s National Day,” Cedonia held onto his arm. “You are obviously a man of great taste. May I ask your advice?” She pulled him along Paul was surprised that she was taking him upstairs.

I’d go upstairs with her too!

Zayed needs a hammer to release the rukh imprisoned by Javad the Sorcerer:

“Good morning, blacksmith,” Zayed assesses a neutral greeting to be best.

Without looking, she answers: “Don’t tell me. The innkeeper told you I’m a lone woman, and you’ve come to try your luck.” She keeps banging on a horseshoe.

“Actually,” he says, “I want to borrow your hammer.”
This makes her turn. Her deep blue eyes flash over his, before she turns to a bucket of water. Steam hisses like an angry cat when she drops the shoe into it.

Zayed notices her lips like ripe pomegranates, bursting with a rosy hue, hinting at the warmth and sweetness concealed within.

“My hammer?”, she looks him over. “Why? Don’t you have one of your own?” She dips her tongs in the bucket and retrieves the shoe then places it on her anvil.

Zayed catches her quick smile. “Nothing’s wrong with my hammer, Most Noble Blacksmith. No one ever complained about it.”

All of a sudden, the door opened. Paul looked up in panic. He recognized Louise, Estelle’s daughter. Estelle looked back at her daughter but didn’t stop her ministrations.

Paul closed the door as quietly as he could. His heart did a summersault when he felt a hand on his shoulder. It was Madame De Villiers and she had a knowing smile.

Once inside, she pushed him on the bed. “Don’t you know it’s impolite to ignore your hostess?” she lifted her short skirt to crawl onto the bed.

Liam and I both wanted to do this one. Shonali is such a wondeful character in the Prospector Finch’s Harem Adventures. In Star People, she gives Finch traditional Teshoni wedding patches. This is what he says in reply:

“Pale man, Finch. I made these for you, to celebrate your bond with my sisters.” His boyish, honest smile reaches her spirit.

Finch opens the pouch and takes out four patches made of soft leather. Each has an embroidered symbol. Shonali picks his: the one with the symbol of the sun, signifying how his wisdom brightens the sky.

“For Charlotte, I chose the woven basket for her trader’s skill in collecting and trading resources, and her ability to provide for the tribe.”

Finch admires the fine, colorful needlework of this fabulous warrior.

For Gayatri, the symbol on the patch is a paintbrush, for her skill at inventing and creating. And for Adelheid, the proud Teshoni warrior sewed a totem depicting her skill as a builder.

“These are perfect, Shonali. Thank you.” He kisses her. To move away from her bashfulness, Shonali tells him how the tradition of matching patches among the Teshoni began long ago with the story of two lovers, Nahalo and Aiyana.

“What symbol will you pick for your own patch, Shonali?”

Eyes wide, fumbling for an answer, her desire for him makes her pull him to her cabin. For now, she’ll pick a spear.

In book 3, he gives her the spear (pun intended!)
