Check out the mysterious Chryseis from The Alchemist’s Frozen Passion!

Chryseis

In 1922, Dr. Clifford Poole is obsessed with uncovering the secrets of an ancient Greek alchemist and the promise of finding the perfect woman frozen in time: Chryseis.

Chryseis awakens with the grace of one merely rousing from a pleasant dream. Her eyes open first, finding Poole’s face above her. Something in his expression—that earnest devotion to science, that burning need to unlock mysteries—reminds her instantly of Seuthes. The same fevered intensity, the same scholarly passion barely masking deeper desires. Despite her centuries of experience (or perhaps because of them), she had trusted Seuthes when he promised someone would eventually find and revive her. Now, looking at Poole’s enraptured face, she knows she was right to wait. She’s handled men like this before, men who mistake scholarly obsession for love. Her lips curve in a smile that’s worked since ancient times.

Chryseis also notices Madleen. The scholar’s practical attire and intelligent eyes suggest both competence and competition.

I can’t believe how Tiffany stages this in two short paragraphs!

Whose Parents to Visit?

As we approach the holiday season, many of us are faced with the daunting task of navigating complex family dynamics and relationships. So, how does a guy with a harem do this? In Ensemble HaremLit, multiple points-of-view can make this especially challenging and fun.

In The Man from G.I.N.G.E.R., James Bread, our serial seducer, ultimately finds love in the arms of Colonel Eugenie Countess von Mittrowitz Lichnowsky. His main concern is how to explain to his mother that he is dating a Police Colonel.

In the final chapter of Star People, my outline only had the ending: Finch would be abducted by the Alder and the Nanken. Not enough for 2000 words. So, I added some holiday happenings that turned out quite well, if I do say so myself.

We see Finch with Constantia and Audrey on the pier, sliding down the bannister with Tady-Lic under the stern gaze of Lydia. But we also see Shonali taking Elizaveta and Takeko to visit the mural she painted in the cave in her village. There were several other homey scenes where the ensemble was together all the time.

It’s true, I cheated. I avoided the decisions about whose parents they would celebrate Christmas with. With more than two harem companions this can quickly grown out of proportion, mathematically speaking. Not to mention the expectations parents may have about dining on specific days.

Do these dynamics matter? I like to think so. Even though HaremLit asks us to suspend our social beliefs, they still exist. For me they are part of the dynamics within the harem, and without. Of course, this goes further than the holidays. Society, for legal, practical, financial, and feminist reasons is not comfortable with a harem of a guy with several women. Nor the reverse harem. Even the term polyamory, is struggling for acceptance.

Should we care? Yes. Love is unique in that it multiplies when it is shared. There is enough cake for everyone, because everyone makes the cake grow.

For Merchant Zayed’s Harem Adventures and The Three Tiffanys, the setting is one where a harem is acceptable and maybe even conventional. In Prospector Finch’s Harem Adventures, on the other hand, the setting is more traditional. This is why I’m finding ways to have Finch marry all the companions who want this, even if it can’t be a conventional marriage. I’ll let you know in Part 3 if I’ve succeeded. Better yet, you will let me know if I’ve succeeded.

For now, I danced around whose parents to visit by having Finch slide down a bannister 😘

Check out the incredible Luci-Li, the Cruella de Vil from Divorced Dad’s Wild Ride!

Luci-Li

Divorced Dad Daniel is prey for three hot neighborhood MILFs at a Halloween party. When he dances with his co-worker, Raisha, these three women don’t approve.

Lucy-Li straightens up, adjusting her costume to maximize her cleavage. “Alright, ladies. Watch and learn. I’m going in for round two.” With a determined glint in her eye, Lucy-Li lifts her boobs, smooths her dress, and saunters confidently towards Daniel, leaving Vivian and Terry to watch with a mix of admiration and envy.

♥♥

Raisha can’t believe the sheer sexual power Cruella de Vil projects. Daniel is caught like a deer in headlights. Lucy-Li takes his tie and straightens it, before pulling it, making Daniel follow her outside. The other guests part to let Cruella through.

Love how the other guests react to Lucy-Li!

What We Love About The Three Tiffanys

The Three Tiffanys

Lily: Because of the announcement of the final season of The Three Tiffanys, Liam and I discuss our feelings on this unique episodic series.

Liam: “The Three Tiffanys sounded like high school cheerleaders, so I had to read about them.

Lily: Haha. I once tried finding cheerleader pictures of the author on her high school’s site.

Liam: Didn’t find any either. Anyway, I was surprised by the Tiffanys. It wasn’t a reverse harem story, because that’s when a woman has a harem of men, but it was a reverse point-of-view harem story. It blew my mind to read about the women instead of the guy.”

Lily: “Yes! Liam, I love the term reverse POV! I’m impressed.”

Liam: “I have my moments.”

Lily: “So, Ensemble HaremLit is actually a very good name. Besides that, The Three Tiffanys are a mystery, thriller, steamy, and feminist story all wrapped into one. It’s so cool.”

Liam: “The Arabian setting in the 1920s is amazing. Modernity in a traditional world.”

Lily: “I have to admit that I’m not comfortable… yet… with the episodic formula. I don’t like to wait two weeks for the next installment.”

Liam: “But you do keep reading…”

Lily: “Yes. Tiffany packs so much in those episodes and seasons. She’s so good with really writing a lot in a few sentences.”

Liam: “I love each of the Tiffanys. Walker is the adventuress, Takei is the demure (love that word) engineer, and don’t get me started on J.”

Lily: “Right?! A camera woman in the 1920s! It’s brilliant. She met Rudolph Valentino!”

Liam: “I wonder what’s in store for the fifth season?”

Lily: “Based on the first episode it looks like court intrigue.”

Liam: “And divorce?”

Lily: “Never! Tiffany writes happy endings.”

Liam: “I’m always up for a happy ending…”

Lily: “Liam!”

Liam: “What?”

Lily: “Stay tuned for more updates from your co-presidents!”

Magali

Tiffans!

Check out the seaxy Magali, the mermaid from Merchant Zayed’s Harem Adventures!

Magali

Zayed meets her when he’s stranded on an island in the Vourukash Sea.

Magali feels an energy pulse shoot down to her hips.

‘Could this be him?’ Magali wonders. The fate of all mermaids is to have a human mate once in their lives. This is their way. This is how they continued their line. She presses him against her bosom. He is doing wonderful things down there.

‘Yes,’ she decides, ‘this is him.’

Magali pulls Arash into the water. He gasps. Further and further down they go. Zayed struggles to go back up for air, and still she dives deeper. Just when he is sure this is the end for him, the mermaid kisses him. Bubbles tickle into his mouth and refresh his lungs.

Can’t wait to read what happens next!

World-Building in Ensemble HaremLit

Ensemble HaremLit

Crafting Immersive and Historical Settings

Is it important to be historically accurate in Ensemble HaremLit? That depends 😘

I like the feel of real history for my stories. How historic events are part of them, or how specific details hint at a location. Let me to give you a few examples:

In Merchant Zayed’s Harem Adventures there is no real history. I use the 1001 Nights as inspiration. That means that the story takes place in Persia at around 1000 AD. I try to calculate distances to get a feel of how long voyages take. The names of the places are real. Even the dynasty that Atossa belongs to is historical. The sweet Sekanjabin syrup is an actual drink from that period and from that region. Somehow, I believe that these details make my worlds come to life.

In The Valentine Empress, I’ve created an entirely new world. The look and feel, I was aiming for is late medieval Europe. The period when magic and science mix and there are first traces of Enlightenment. The story is set in the Plyterre Dominion. I wanted it to be like France and Great Britain with its court intrigues. I modeled the Autradian Dynasty on a combination of Austria and Hungary. The ambassador’s name Lumnije Juhász is supposed to give an East European feel. Walchelin Baron Venrock has ancestry in the Belgirian Kingdom, which I thought would sound like Belgium. For such a short stoy, I think I have too many characters, but I needed them all for the mystery/court intrigue.

Prospector Finch’s Harem Adventures is even more ambitious. In it, I made an even deeper mix of history, fiction and science fiction. Readers have told me that it is a tough read. I guess they’re right. It’s more of a science fiction story with steamy bits than the more accessible HaremLit stories. Although I try to stay true to the actual historical occurrences, I fiddle with some dates.  For example, in Belleville, Finch and Adelheid attend a reading of Five Weeks in a Balloon by the author Jules Verne. That story was written a few years later. I was writing about airships so, I introduced this fantastic author as an inspiration. There are more liberties in the dates, but I tried to stay as close as I can to the actual history.

What I loved doing is trying to find ways so that Finch can marry the harem companions who want to. In a fictional setting, it wouldn’t be a problem, but I wanted the social rules to apply. Charlotte, Adelheid and Gayatri all have a real wedding. I speculated that a small announcement in a newspaper in Germany wouldn’t reach the US. Even a grand wedding in one of the kingdoms in India wouldn’t attract attention. So, I felt those were safe to do. Once Finch wants to marry Lydia or Constantia, their ties to San Francisco will make that challenging to hide. In the final part of Prospector Finch’s Harem Adventures, I hope to find clever ways to make it possible anyway. I hope you will like them.

For me, the world building is about historic events, specific details, and interesting customs. They all help transport you, my readers, into the narrative and help you feel the story come alive with depth and authenticity.

Annette Fanicello

Annette Fanicello

Tiffans!

Check out cute and lovely Annette Fanicello from Annette’s Flower Shop!

Annette Fanicello

Annette is losing her flower shop, and town clerk Frankie is the only one left to help her.

When she hears the bell, she takes a deep breath and fakes another smile.

It’s Frankie. The sight of this clean-cut guy in his oversized dorky jacket is the last thing she expected. Tears stream from her eyes. She pushes into his open arms.

Frankie’s eyes get moist when Annette shakes against his chest. His arms reach all the way around her. He caresses her auburn hair. Her tears trickle through his shirt.

After a few minutes, there’s less shaking and more sniffing. She looks up at him. Even like this, she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. He smiles.

“Hey, buy you a cup of coffee?”

She smiles back, but tears start streaming again. She pushes her face into his chest. After a moment, Annette looks up again.

“Sorry. Your shirt’s all wet… And I think there’s some mascara smudges there as well.”

“I have another shirt.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. But just the one.”

“Don’t tell me: you alternate them every day.”

“Hey! No one notices.”

“That’s what you think. Women notice everything.”

“My mother lives in Sacramento.”

“No lady friends, huh?”

“How can you tell?”

“You have two shirts that you alternate. And you wear your father’s jacket.”

“My big bother’s…”

I laughed so hard at the two alternating shirts and the brother’s jacket!

How We Found Tiffany and Became Tiffans

My Stories

Lily: “Hey Tiffans! Liam and I were just comparing notes on how we each discovered J. Tiffany Noore’s stories.”

Liam: “Oh yeah! I found her through Merchant Zayed’s Harem Adventures on Twitter. There was this episode where he was, uh… getting acquainted with a mermaid…”

Lily: “Is that what we’re calling it?”

Liam: *grins* “Hey, it was a great story! Led me to all her other work. The Caterer and Miss Jones? Pure genius. The way that quadruple trap springs and nobody sees it coming? Yet she explains everything so perfectly that readers can follow along.”

Lily: “That’s what amazes me about her writing – how she keeps all these plot threads and characters clear for the reader.”

Liam: “Right? In Merchant Zayed, she’s juggling what, five different women’s storylines now?”

Lily: “For me, it started with the Season’s Teasings collection where Tiffany wrote The Man from G.I.N.G.E.R. It reminded me so much of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. I kept picturing Henry Cavill as James Bread during his North Pole adventures…”

Liam: “Oh! Did you know JB are also James Bond’s initials?”

Lily: “Yes, Liam, I got that reference. What really impressed me was when I looked up Colonel Eugenie Countess von Mittrowitz Lichnowsky and found out it’s a real Liechtensteiner name. That kind of attention to detail made me want to read more of her work.”

Liam: “And that attention to detail really shines in her ensemble approach. Each character gets their moment to shine…”

Lily: “Exactly! And it’s just the right kind of steaminess. That scene at the ‘Ambassador’s wife’s daughter’s Halloween Party’ in The Caterer and Miss Jones – with Paul Devlin, the mother, AND the daughter at the same time! It blew me away…”

Liam: “She-werewolf Clara is my favorite character in ‘The Caterer,’ followed very closely by ‘The Inquisitrix!’ It’s a name filled with so much promise 😁”

Lily: “I started reading all her other work, and before I knew it, I started planning a fan club. I had everything ready – the welcome post, character discussions, reading guides…”

Liam: “Meanwhile, I was doing the exact same thing! When Tiffany found out we were both planning fan clubs…”

Lily: “She suggested we work together instead of competing! Best decision ever.”

Liam: “Stil love that mermaid scene with Zayed…”

Lily: “Everything comes back to that mermaid with you, doesn’t it?”

Liam: “Hey, maybe the next winter collection will give me another great scene.”

Lily: “I’m sure it will. Coming out soon! Can’t wait.

Liam: “Stay tuned for more updates from your co-presidents!”
